Project Conceived

Lagos State Government partners with South Energyx Nigeria Limited to address coastal erosion and create new land.

2008

Great Wall Construction Begins

Construction of the Great Wall of Lagos sea revetment commences to protect Victoria Island from Atlantic Ocean erosion.

2013

Land Reclamation Advances

Over 5 million square meters of land reclaimed from the ocean. Infrastructure planning accelerates.

2015

Phase 1 Infrastructure

Road networks, underground drainage, and utility corridors laid across Phase 1 of the development.

2017

First Buildings Rise

Construction of residential and commercial towers begins. Azuri Peninsula and Eko Pearl developments take shape.

2019

Power Plant Commissioned

Eko Atlantic Utility commissions its first 10MVA natural gas power plant with 6 MTU Rolls Royce engines.

2021

Phase 1 & 2 Complete

All bridges completed. Infrastructure live. Water treatment and sewage systems operational.

2023

Towers Rising

Multiple residential and commercial buildings occupied. Free Zone established. Great Wall extends beyond 6km.

2025

Rugby School Opens

Rugby School Nigeria opens in Eko Atlantic City. Continued expansion into Phase 3 and beyond.
